Gym Workout Gear is an online store at https://gymworkoutgear.com. We stock men's training shorts and men's compression base layers, sold in a small set of sizes and lengths that cover most of what a training week asks for.
Every pair of training shorts answers one question before it answers anything else: is there a liner sewn into it, or not. That single detail decides more about how a short wears than the fabric name on the label. A lined short is a finished garment on its own, and it asks to be washed after one session. An unlined short is half of an outfit, and it expects something underneath.
Most confusion about training shorts starts there. Someone buys a pair that felt right in the hand, wears it over nothing on a run, and blames the fabric for the chafing. Someone else pulls a lined pair over a compression tight and spends an hour adjusting two waistbands that are fighting each other. Neither short was wrong. The pairing was.
So the range is organized around the answer instead of around a season or a color story. When a short comes in, the first thing we record is whether it stands alone or needs a layer, and the listing says so plainly. If you already own compression you like, you know which half of the range to look at. If you own none, you know which shorts will work on their own from day one.
The two categories we carry do two different jobs, and it helps to keep them separate in your head. A compression base layer works against the skin. It moves sweat off the body, keeps the inner thigh from rubbing, and holds its shape while you move through a full range. It is measured by pressure and by how long it keeps that pressure after an hour of work.
The short is the outer piece, and its job is clearance. It has to let a knee travel, sit still through a hinge, carry a key and a card without swinging, and dry before the next session. Fabric weight matters here in the opposite direction from the layer underneath. Too light and it rides; too heavy and it hangs wet.
Because the two pieces are bought separately, sizing has to be readable across both. A base layer sits one step tighter than a short by design, so the listings give you the body measurement range rather than a single letter, and the short gives you waist and inseam. Two numbers each, in the same place on every listing, so a pairing can be worked out before anything is in a cart.
A five-inch short and a nine-inch short are not the same garment in two lengths. They behave differently at the bottom of a squat, under a knee sleeve, on a bike, and on a long run in still air. That is why the range holds more than one length in the same style rather than one length across many styles.
Before a short goes on the site, it gets tried against the movements it will actually meet. Deep knee bend, to see whether the hem catches at the top of the thigh. Hip hinge, to see whether the waistband rolls. A loaded carry, to see what the pockets do with weight in them. If a length only works for standing still, it does not earn a listing, and the version that survives goes up with the measurements that made it work.
The same goes for what we leave out. There are styles that photograph well and fail the hinge, and there are base layers that feel right for the first ten minutes and go slack after that. Those never make it to a product page, which is why the catalog stays a size you can read through in a few minutes.
These are the operating numbers behind every order, and they are the same numbers you will find on the policy pages.
